On the grounds of Starlight Memorial Park, there is a historic adobe home where you can now find Casa Coffee as well as the Starlight Shop & Refillery.
This San Pablo-style adobe, completed in 1886, is the oldest continuously inhabited home in the Valley of the Sun. Gates to Ranchito Chavez were added ten years later in 1896.
The adobe stands as a testament to Tempe's unique history as well as its commitment to innovation. As the city's first and only "Agritainment" space, our goal is to modernize the existing structures and grounds to create public gardens, a community center, business hub, and event space while maintaining both the integrity and aesthetic of this unique historic home using the principles of adaptive
reuse.
The Starlight Shop and Casa Coffee are both located inside Casa Chavez. As a general rule, we are open Tuesday & Wednesday from 10am-5pm and Thursday, Friday, & Saturday from 10am-8pm.
Special events, including historic tours, can be found on our calendar.
